Komentarz cz. 4 | Commentary part 4

union-jack-stars-and-stripes Our return from holidays is also a return to our previously started projects, and among them to translating the Commentary on the Prayer Book Outline of the Faith written by the Rev. Dr. Richard T. Nolan. The fourth unit is entitled God the Son and you can find it, as well as the previous ones, under the Outline of Faith – Commentary button. Besides his own reflections, the author reproduced a longer fragment describing the theology of Edward Schillebeeckx, a Dominican friar and professor who died last year (we wrote about him a few months ago). We find the approach to Jesus’ death on the cross taken from Schillebeeckx particularly valuable. The death itself is not an act of salvation, it is as absurd and scandalous as death of any other innocent human being is. Jesus but fills it with saving sense through his unbroken fidelity to the Father and his radical solidarity with the suffering.

We hope that among the visitors of our blog will be such who will use Dr. Nolan’s commentary for their own reflections, but also – as it was intended – as a catechetical material. We sincerely encourage religion teachers from different churches to do so. At the same time we would like to remind you that the whole Commentary is available in English at Dr. Nolan’s website .
