Tomorrow is the second Sunday after the Epiphany and we will be reading the story of the Wedding in Cana from the lectionary. Searching for an inspiration for tomorrow Eucharist’s intercession, I visited, as I quite often do, the site of the Belgian Roman Catholic parish of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin in the town of Schilde. This parish is administered by Dominican Friars. I liked one of the intercessions they suggested for tomorrow so much that I decided to publish it on our blog – in Flamish, Polish and English.
The original :
Bidden we voor wie rusteloos zoeken naar tederheid en trouw,
naar vriendschap passend bij hun seksuele geaardheid.
Dat ook zij, geschapen naar Gods beeld,
in liefde mogen openbloeien tot goede mensen.
Dat zij zich aanvaard mogen voelen zoals zij aanvaard worden door Jezus,
die bruiloftswijn schenkt voor allen die doen wat Hij zegt.
The English translation :
We pray for those who restlessly seek tenderness and fidelity,
a friendship suiting their sexual orientation.
That they too may, created after the image of God,
flourish in love to become good people.
That they may feel accepted as Jesus accepts them,
he who offers wedding wine to anyone who does what he tells.
