We wanted to post here the transcript of the Rev. Prof. Peter J. Gomes’ (1942-2011) Easter Sermon. The great preacher from Harvard has hoped to the very end that on Easter he would come back to his Memorial Church in order to preach that sermon. Unfortunately, something else happened. We decided nevertheless to publish a picture taken in Harvard at the Paschal Vigil, which depicts Rev. …the resurrection is a continuing event which involves everyone who dares be involved in it. Easter is not just about Jesus, it’s about you. Jesus has already claimed his new life. What about you? Easter is not just about the past, it’s about the future. Your best days are ahead of you. The proof of the resurrection is in your hands and in your life.
Indeed, the greatest argument for the validity of the Christian life is the life of a Christian: we are the arguments for the resurrection; we are the living roots for the existence of God.
