Look back to that breathless morning when the disciples saw the holy women coming back from the tomb with a story of angels. A bloodless corpse, transfixed by a spear, had risen again with a mysterious new life. Jesus kept His Promise. Death, our oldest enemy, has been mastered. (John 20:1-9)

When we wish one another a happy Easter, we should take deep joy in the knowledge that the best part of us will cheat the grave. Our lives sometimes disguise that joy as weary bones and heavy flesh, and addled brains distract us. But our bodies already hold the seeds of resurrection. We are none of us mortal.

Przypomnijcie sobie ten zapierający dech w piersiach poranek, gdy uczniowie zobaczyli święte niewiasty powracające od grobu z opowieścią aniołów. Wykrwawione ciało, przebite włócznią, powstało do tajemniczego nowego życia. Jezus dotrzymał obietnicy. Śmierć, nasz najdawniejszy nieprzyjaciel, została poskromiona (J 20:1-9).

Gdy życzymy sobie nawzajem wesołych Świąt Wielkanocnych, radujmy się głęboko tym, że wiemy, iż to, co w nas najlepsze, okpi grób. Nasze życie niekiedy ukrywa tę radość pod postacią znużonych kości i ociężałego ciała, zaś nasze zagubione umysły zwodzą nas. Nasze ciała zawierają już jednak ziarna zmartwychwstania. Nikt z nas nie jest śmiertelny.
